Strata Brass are delighted that their musical director, David Hirst, has agreed to continue with the band for a further term of three years.

This news follows the bands recent contest successes at Derby, Wychavon and Bolsover

Strata Brass have won 1st Prize at Bolsover Entertainment contest, in a section of 9 Bands ranging in standard from 1st to 4th sections.

Congratulations to Julie Thomas for winning the best soloist, with a vocal performance of Gabriels Oboe.

The band are delighted that Strata Group have agreed a further extension to the current agreement, to July 2011

Strata Brass would like to welcome back Jayne Smith (Second Cornet) and Craig Woods (2nd Trombone) after spells away from the band following family and career commitments.

Strata Brass have won 1st Prize in the 2nd section of the Wychavon Festival of Brass, winning the Systematic Challenge Trophy and £750.

The 4 point winning margin was convincing and adjudicator Ken Dennison had the following comment to make on the band:

"Why is this band in the second section?"

Congratulations also go to Robert Hardy, Steven Shipman, Sophie Darwin & Gareth Coles on winning the Mick Sharp Memorial Trophy for the best percussion section.

Strata Brass were awarded 3rd place overall at the Staveley Entertainment contest.

Congratulations to Julie Thomas, who won the prize for best soloist. 

Strata Brass are delighted to have signed Steve Butler on Eb Bass.

Steve brings a wealth of experience to the bass section, having recently played with Kippax and Yorkshire Imps. 

The band have welcomed back Chris Probin to the Horn section after a period of recovery from a heart attack.

The band would like to thank David Horn for filling the Solo Horn seat for the last few months and hope that he will continue playing with the band at least until Chris is back to full capacity!
